Snakes, worms, tree roots - what are they?

  • JellyMonster by JellyMonster

The large snake-like anomaly seems to be above the surface... any ideas? There is also a smaller version just to the right of it (see enlarged photo).

The bottom image has been cropped, inverted, and enlarged. I also played around with the contrast/brightness levels.

    JM,
This is a great shot!........Try as I may though, I can't tell which part of image #1 makes up image #2. Any chance you could draw a box around it? ......or give some driving directions to it? 😉

AUricle, If you look, more of less, dead centre at the original image, you should notice what looks like a channel or groove... this is the anomaly. Now if you imagine the image rotated through 180 degrees (the spiders swap places), you should be able to work out where you are.

I think that's just a regular channel. It looks like this may be late in the season and some of the channels have frost features and that one doesn't so it may cause it too more like it's above the surface when it's at the same level as the other spider channels.

    I agree Meg.

The images shift back and forth between "proper" and the "other" view, depending onhow much "magnification" is applied, and the light direction!
