similar direction wind blowing that way? surface texture changes almost like mountains then glacier in valley

by michaelaye scientist
yes, usually a very good indication that all these jets erupted around the same time. Because the wind didn't change in between.

do the researchers want those marking fans to mark all individually or is it acceptable to mark several at one time if they are in a group?
Posted
-
by michaelaye scientist
this is a tough one, as the fans even overlap. But because we want to work with the covered area data as well,we really need all of them.

Every place that burns some kind of fuel for energy needs to have an exhaust tube. So has life from the surface moved under ground? Life here started somewhere out there.

frequently the axis of the fans is at right angles to the irregularities of the surface as if both are wind formed.

Looks like a meteor shower! Tons of #fans.

wind related markings from holes in the surface where it emits dust particles or old particles created by the blastings already sighted.

Petruchio, that very well might be!

Is sun angle v low? if so circles in btm R must be holes/pits/craters not boulders as boulders would cast long shadows.

this looks very similar to coal dust on a beach, there are vents pushing out this dust and the wind is blowing it more so in march

They are geysers of black liquid or gas. Some have the mushroom-like objects near their source. Maybe a life form feeding from the geysers.

by michaelaye scientist
mushroom? These are dust deposits from CO2 gas jet eruptions.

Djbooth: the angle is low, but the sun comes from the lower right, you actually can see the shadow, but the boulder is covered by ice.

Agree - thanks. Takes a while to get your eye in to topography. Can now see wind has blown black dust up against escarpments.

don't be pestered by the difficulty of recognizing the topography.i am haunted every bloody day by seeing things 'the wrong way'. 😉

The shadows are deceiving..the small objects could be subtle geysers breaking through the surface.
