😃 " In a galaxy far, far away, the eminent scientists of an extremely advance intelligent life form debated for millenia as to whether there was intelligent life elsewhere in the universe. They tried many formulae to try to prove that there must be, but eventually they decided to send out exploration teams. From the results of these, they developed a short list of likely candidates,and had high hopes of a small solar system in the arm of a distant spiral galaxy where they thought a probe- like artefact had originated. It seemed to have come from the 3rd planet, and so all em receivers were pointed in that direction. Two signals were detected, and the scientists excitedly met to discuss them. One seemed to be from an entity called 'Big Brother', and the other from one called 'Britainsgottalent'. After studying the signals, the chief scientist stood, and with tears in his eyes, deleted the 3rd planet from the list of possible cradles of advanced intelligent life." 😃

Many a true word spoken in jest, eh?
Mind you, as Sarah Parkin of the Green Party pointed out in the 1980's, we are intelligent enough to have developed sophisticated technologies to the the extent that we are now the only species on this planet capable of monitering its own extinction !! 😉

cont....".Wait" said one of the scientists-" there is another signal, but it is not the third planet, it is from an entity called ' discussion boards' on Planet four, at last, we have found other intelligent life!",,,,,

.....and it seems from this entity called 'discussion boards' that Scientists are worshipped like Gods on this planet, with their words of wisdom recorded in some sort of sacred book called 'Scientific Papers', for which many sacrifices are made. And chapters of this sacred book are disseminated to believers called Citizen Scientists, disciples who give their labours freely in pursuit of the greater good, Science for all...
