Hi, I'm quite new at this and are qurious about the diagonal lines seen in this image. Are the origin known and how common are they?

Hi, these are quite common in certain areas of Mars, and are called 'Yardangs'. They occur on earth as well. Here is another example that cropped up in today's images APF0001bzm .They are caused by long term wind erosion of dunes and surface features, (very simply put!) leaving these long linear features. It needs the wind to contain abrasive particles (sand, dust, ice partcles, etc) Hope this helps. 😃 There is lots on the 'net' to read about under 'yardangs'. ~ Pete.

I do not know for sure , I consider yardangs these structures that are more consistent , these lines are discordant with the rest of the features . I will study more . Grateful for the information.

I think those are yardangs as well.
