Time of the HiRISE photos

  • HMB6EQUJ5 by HMB6EQUJ5

Curious as to the time of Martian daylight that the HiRISE photos are taken. I read somewhere in an article/post/blog that one reason that an actual photo of a vent in progress is improbable is due to venting theoretically occurring in the early Martian daylight and the HiRISE images taken later in day. Clarify as you wish, and thanks in advance....... I spent better part of an hour scouring for source of info but to no avail

    Hi,

You can fine the time of day by clicking on the grey 'view HIRISE image' link below the image on Talk. That takes you to the HiRISE webpage for the parent full frame HiRISE image our cutouts that we show on the site come from. on the HiRISE webpage there is a entry called 'Local Mars Time'. I think that's what you want.

    Cheers,

    ~Meg

Most of them tend to be late afternoon, around 4 or 5 pm
