Jelly Monster....an image question!

Dave,
Put this in Irfanview and blow it up to 420%. Look at the black "fan/blotch" feature in the center of this image. Do you see the same rectangular "patch" or image artifact around that black feature that I see? Is that fan/blotch "shopped" into the image? What could account for those strange marks?

Yes, I see what you mean... looks like dust and dirt from the main fan but I can't explain how it has come to rest in such a fashion... any ideas?

Could the bottom straight edge be the side of a fan originating bottomleft of the area, with another one slightly above this running towards 1 oclock?

Is this partof a bigger pic with more fans which could confirm the fan directions?

wassock,
The fan stands alone. It is part of the top image. Nothing else around it in the immediate area. I could see your
explanation of the "bottom straight edge", but then how do you see the right side "straight edge"? Or the left side for that matter? (even though it 'bends' near the bottom)....and the area in question is loaded with image processing artifacts which is what REALLY makes it stand out.Posted

I should have said earlier, that the image that I posted is an enlarged version of AUricles, zoomed in on, what looks like, the lone single fan. It now looks to me like there is more than one fan.

Can't really help with ideas, but here's something similar to play with;

and even http://planetfour.org/subjects/standard/50e741385e2ed212400032b6.jpg
My gut feelings tell me that these are related to this;

Excuse the dodgy drawing but these are where the 2 fans I see are (ish) https://www.dropbox.com/s/jhocj93f788zduq/Anomaly9a.jpg
Problem with this is that it gives us 2 large fans with different orientations and the dark fan which looks like its coming from a crack with yet another wind direction. None of them seemingly active at the same times as oneanother

Yes you're right, that drawing is on the dodgy side 😃, but I see what you mean. It makes more sense to me now.
