Dark patch and very bright organge elements

What does everyone make of this image?
The center is dominated by a very dark patch almost trailing off to the right. Perhaps this is formed by this location being at a different height to that of the area around it? Or perhaps it is made up of a different element?
Also
Down the right of the image stretches what looks like lava to the naked eye.
