Hi,
The exact formation process for the veins is not fully known, but they've been dubbed 'spiders' because many originate from a single point with many 'legs' radiating out. You can learn more how we think these are formed on our About page (hint = carbon dioxide geysers and trapped carbon dioxide gas)
