crater quality

  • umasai by umasai

Some craters are very big and only a part of the rim is seen,in that case how to mark ? In some, small crater like appearances are inside a bigger one and give the feeling they are secondary mainly when the landscape appears to be a little fluid. Since it is Martian soil should every crater like appearance be counted as a single hit?

Hi there, welcome to Planet 4.

The Crater project is an experiment to look at how the user interface works for different users. As such there's no right and wrong way to do anything, what's important is how you choose to use it and the feedback you give on "how it was for you".

I'd give a mark to partly offscreen craters and attempt to give a size, much in the same way as we do for fans and blotches in the main task of this site. I also try to mark all the craters, but sometimes there re just too many. And the surface of Mars is very old so it's not uncommon for there to be craters within craters - for large craters finding one without a few inside it would be uncommon.
