Interesting Image : Eleven Fans, Two Features
-
by msc386
This was an interesting image to classify. There are 11 fans and 2 features present in the image.
The fans run from NNW to about SSE at the right of the image. The 2 features are at the extreme
eastern edge of the image. I suspect these two "features" to be "fans" but could not classify them
as such because they were at the extreme edge of the image, and the classification application
would cause the window turn blue when attempting to place a "Fan" identifying icon on either one
of them. IT might want to look at this issue. The narrowness of the eleven fans identified would indicate fairly substantial surface winds at the
time of their formation. The relative darkness of these formations and the amount of material being
deposited would also seem to be bear this out. All eleven fans are weather-vaning in the same relative
direction which suggest that they all formed at approximately the same time.As always, comment is invited.

Hi MSC, with features near the edge, just click your marking tool in a spot away from the edge, adjust the size, shape, and angle of the shape to match the feature you want to mark, then click and hold on the centre of your shape, and drag it over the feature. Use this method as well when marking 2 images that are very close, or overlapping.~ Pete
