ice patterns

    while not seeing much in way of plums here...i was intrigued by the relative similarity of the prickly looking ice patters to fans. Are they coincidental or possibly remnants of fans?

    I think you need to look at the HiRISE images of the cropped pictures you are classifying to see an overall view of the terraine. It really helps to interpret what you see. This is from Inca City again, from a gentle downslope behind a ridge. Click on the link (bottom right of your image, pale grey letters "View HiRISE image" and try the 'JPEG greyscale and RGB colour strips first. With care, yoo will be able to identify where your small image has been cropped from.( The JP2 HiRISE downloads can be huge,and you only need to venture those if you are getting very involved!). Like many confusing 'closeups', stepping back a pace often allows us to see and interpret what we are looking at! These views offer a brilliant view of the Mars surface that are often stunning. ~Pete
