strange shadow

what is the shadow on the top ???

Hi lolodec. Nice to see you here. Just seen your image on the 'Recents' page. The object at the top is a blotch. The dark material bursting through the thin icelayer happened when there was no wind, so it just falls back to the surface in a blotch.

The other objects are fans. When this material burst through there must have been some wind blowing (from bottom to top) and the dust has been blown into the fan shapes you see here. The fan bottom right is a bit blotchy, but you can see something of a tail moving upwards.

PS: In the images on P4 the sunlight comes from bottom right, so the wiggly lines (spiders) are depressions (channels) lit up on the left hand side and in shadow on the right. They can look like ridges, so take care to remember the direction of the light. Good hunting. Hope you'll find some more questions to ask. Cheers. 😉
