Probable Fan in Upper-Right Corner

  • msc386 by msc386

Probable large fan in upper-right corner of image; but it is difficult to tell since it has been cropped.
Marked it as a fan anyway. How is an image like this normally classified?

Hi there. I'm guessing that most folks would create a fan (or blotch) shape inside the image, then slide the shape into the corner to cover the fan/blotch. Always difficult to know exactly what's there, but either/or is good enough. Whatever you can manage. Cheers. 😃

We chop up the big HiRISE images into smaller cutouts. I believe the right and bottom 100 pixels of each cutout has a neighbor overlaps the neighboring cutout so that feature is likely on the next cutout so it's okay if you don't know what shape, probably the other classifiers of the cutout got it, but marking a blotch there will help make sure we pick it out since we'll use all the markings from overlapping cutouts to identify features. So just do your best and mark something there but don't worry too much if the shape isn't quite right for sources on the edge and over.

    Cheers,
