Two Fans Inside a Larger One

  • msc386 by msc386

This is a very interesting image. This image was classified as having several fans, a blotch, and some interesting features. In the lower right-hand
part of the image, there are two smaller (newer) fans inside a larger older one. To the upper left of those two features in another small fan; to the lower
left of that is another fan. In the area of the described fans are some interesting features that look like araneiform channels. To the far upper right,
part-way down in the image, is a small blotch. The density of the material deposited would seem to indicate low wind-speed.

Given the number of features here, this may be a particularly active area on the surface with regard to wind speed and direction.

Again msc, have a look at the HiRISE Greyscale. Look at your image and click on HiRISE on the lower right border, then click on Greyscale. You will see it is an area of dense venting activity- with multiple events, and overlapping deposits. ~ Pete
