Fan and blotches due to CO2 expulsion or what?

  To me this looks mainly like a different phenomenon. Frosty terrain and deep shadows mainly,
  with maybe a few blotches at higher elevations. Does anyone disagree?

  Try having a look at the larger HiRise image that this comes from, click on the image to the left then on the HiRise link. On the RGB jpg image theres a dark region toward the top which is where I think it comes from. My guess is it is some sort of depression.
