  Looks like a grass hopper from "a bugs life". Some sort of depression maybe?

  That's a weird one indeed. The background looks stripey (yardang?) top left to bottom right. The left hand wall of the hole seems to have split/fragmented. There seems to be a dark pit inside the hole. Any spin doctors about?

  Spin doctor? - yeah I like that! The image oddity has been cropped and spun round.
