fan field and 'snowballs'

  This looks like an incredibly dense 'fan field' but with brightly lit snowball ? boulders. Lit from the bottom of the image. Any comments on what is occurring here would be appreciated. Thanks.

  I'm not 100% sure, but it looks to me to be #boulders or at least the color and shape remind me of images I've seen with boulders.

  Boulders with shadows even? And there are spiders/channels underlying the whole lot. The summer image would be interesting

  from the shadows, these boulders must be quite high. with them and all those fans, it must be a dramatic place to take a stroll!

  We've been told elsewhere that these 'boulders' are about 1.5m or more in size. Notice the 'stripey glitch' covering the right hand side of the image (about a third). Wonder what caused that?
