Yup there are lots of examples showing 2 or 3 directions but not so many showing such an all round distribution. Its interesting as it means that the eruptions forming the fans must stop and start

We think the fans are telling us wind direction. So in this case the winds were changing in all directions over the spring. That's something we want to compare to global climate models that will simulate the wind and tell us which way we think the wind was blowing. We'll be able to test and validate the global climate models this way.

Well done again ElizabethB. Twin fans seem 'fairly abundant', but all the way round fans seem rarer. I've collected yours, so you might want these in return;
