  this picture was very interesting it has many blotches and a wide long blotch at the far left. I also have a question, why is the picture gray?

  I'm not 100% sure why. I know that HiRISE can take either black and white images or multicolor images (combination of three filter images). I believe the black and white is higher resolution than the color images.
