When is a blotch not a blotch?

In an image like this I have been assuming that some of the dark areas around the spider terrain really are blotches from CO2 geysers but that the majority of the dark patches are just the result of "normal" (non-geyser) sublimation revealing the terrain beneath the ice.
Am I way off?

I think this could be 'seepage' but don't know where to find the explanation. Th dust leaking out of ice through weaknesses or cracks.
Maybe!

OK, that makes sense too. So a feature at the end of the Martian winter maybe.
