sometimes the topography seems to interfere with the 'Drif' and sometimes it dosen't in this image

The image closed down before I could mark this with interesting feature. The 'old and nearly dissipated eruption just E of imaginary line dividing E/W shows the black material hanging in the air just W of the high ridges. The 'newer but smaller eruption just to the W is also slightly impeded by the ridges making the material settle a little on the other side from the eruption.the eruption in center 2nd down from top is near high ridges but not impeded. The behaviour of the black material reminds me of the way ash and smoke are carried on the wind in forest fires and also where there are volcanic eruptions. Doe this mean that the material is heavy gasseous or must there be heavy solid particles in it to allow being carried in wind and also to settle in some circumstances
