topographical features create situations where the seasonal co2 ice layer will always be the weakest. every year. because the co2 gas jets underneath the ice (as described here) always erupt at the same place and therefore erode material during these transports towards that same weak spot. After hundreds to thousands of winters, spiders should have been created. That is the general idea. Anya (user Portyankina) and me wanted to create computer models for this to prove that this is really happening like that, but so far we could not receive funding for this exciting (we think) project. :S
