Interesting surface texture

Surface texture, reminds me when muddy ground dries out and cracks. Possible water indicator?

Desiccation cracks? they form when the mud contracts due to water evaporating out of it. they regularly contract into roughly hexagonal shapes with random orientations. these features are way too linear to be caused by any cracking process. they look more like ridges or striations, possibly caused by water flow between the ridges.
