    Hi!

    Very nice observation. Patterns tend to repeat themselves in nature, on different scales. For example, you can find dendritic pattern in tree branches, lightning strikes, river deltas, human veins... This surface is called patterned ground and resembles some cellular structure. But the closest physical analog on Earth to this is permafrost polygons in northern areas (like Alaska or Norwegian North). You can google "permafrost polygons" and enjoy the closer look at these interesting features!

    That's pretty much what I was thinking, I once visited the Shark Bay are of Western Australia, and there was a fossilised plant/animal structure in the shallow water. It was that that triggered my thread.
