curious depresions

What would cause the seemingly depressed area in lower third near center? There seems to be a similar one @ about 1 o'clock . Aside from these everything else seems similar in image.

If I'm seeing what you are seeing then they're possible boulders, rather than depressions. The boulders, or bumps (or whatever they are) are being lit by sunlight from the bottom right of the image, so their left side is in shadow.
