Edge details

Can you advise how to mark a detail that appears to come from outside of the image? For example, if I think I am looking at a fan detail, where and how should I start the starting point of it?

Sorry to post a "me too" but I have wondered about this as well. The help/tutorial are woefully inadequate for the real images one will constantly encounter while contributing. I'd be hesitant with your image, but if a feature is obviously a fan rather than a blotch, I cheat—making the fan in an empty area with roughly the correct length, width, and angle, then I reposition it to reflect the fan, even if that means the point is slightly out of the frame.

    Hi!
exitcode1 found a nice solution. However there is also not much wrong if you go with blotch tool over the fan where you see that the source is out of your frame.

    Thanks for your help!
