I've fanned the smudge near center on the left side, blotched the two smudges and place an interesting feature star on the veins in the middle. Does an expert have any opinion on whether I should do more or less to this image?

Hi! This is a really tough one! Lowe right corner has another "smudge" that could be fan, but otherwise, you did well. All the dark parts around veins are due to defrosting and as they are so evenly distributed, no need to mark them.
